101 Easy Ways to use Google's New Website Optimizer

Well apparently Google has some New Website Optimizer thingy, and here's an article that gives you 101 easy ways to use it.

Read it here

I can think of a few people at work (especially that one guy) who may need to read this.

Peace out.

Sucks to be Swedish, Awesome to be a Pirate

So there's been all this controversy about www.allofmp3.com, and the mp3 downloading thingy that it does. I've never personally used it, so wouldn't know what all the fuss is about.

But it seems that a Swedish ISP called Perspektiv has bowed to pressure from somewhere, and has banned allofmp3's ip's from its servers. So now, none of its users are able to access and download songs from allofmp3.

Did they think that would be the end of it?

Oh no, no, no.....

The awesome piratebay heard about this and have now banned all of Perspektiv's ip's from accessing their servers. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Check out the story here, which also includes the PHP code to block Perspecktiv's servers. So do your part and join the Pirate Party.

Aaarrrrgggg!!!!

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii........

So I haven't posted in a week, so here's what's been goin' down.

Monday 4th December:
6PM: Email from game saying the payment for my Wii was declined!!! Panic sets in....

Tuesday 5th December:
10AM(ish): Phoned game to re-order my order. They asked if I had enough funds in my accout, but I was using a credit card so I wouldn't need to have the funds right? Gave them my debit card details (good idea seeing as I only had £80 in my account).
4PM: Confirmation email from Game saying that my order was processed!!!

Wednesday 6th December:
4PM: Purchased tickets online for +44 for 03/02/2007 at the Brixton Academy. Paid with my credit card though, might have been a bad idea.

Thursday 7th December:
7AM: Email from Game confirming my Wii order has been dispatched.
Day off Work. Was going to clean my room, but somehow didn't!!

Friday 8th December:
OMG its Wii delivery day!!!
8AM: Forced myself to be half awake in-case the delivery came.
9AM: Waiting for Parcel Force to arrive.
10AM: Waiting...
11AM: Still waiting, its almost lunch time...
11:30AM: Yee calls me, says he's just unboxing his Wii....bastard. Give me some hope that mine will arrive soon, he lives in Hammersmith so mine should be delivered soon right?.....
12?M: Thinking about lunch
1PM: Nothing yet, finger crossed....
2PM: Cleaning my room in boredom. Fuck Parcel Force.
3PM: Called Parcel Force. Apparently the delivery is guaranteed today, anytime until 6PM!!! WTF!!!!
4PM: Finished cleaning room, playing guitar.
5PM: Getting ready to go out for the Moneycorp CFX Christmas (Boat) Party. Had to help my housemate with some photography crap.
5:15PM: There's a knock on the door!!! Who could it be?....OMG ITS PARCEL FORCE!!!!
5:30PM: Ran out the house to get to the party on time.
7PM: At the boat, free drinks all night (until the tab ran out), some hot girls. What could go wrong?
12PM(ish): Stagger off the boat, waiting to people to go to Abacus bar. Too cold to wait so try to find the nearest tube, bottle of San Miguel in hand. Reach a District Line Tube (Monument I think or somewhere around there), there's a train on the platform!!! I can't run in case I fall over due to the excess drink. The doors close...OH NO its a freakin' Wimbledon train, the guard says it was the last one!!! How the fuck am I getting home now?

Saturday 9th December:
Early Hours of the Morning: Walking....Its cold....windy....no hat.....spilled beer in my sleeve (don't ask).....walked past "John Carpenter Street".....new plan: Go to Waterloo, get an awesome burger from the Igloo, get a cab.
At the Igloo getting a burger mmmmmmmmmmm.....
Walk round the corner to get a cab, shame they're all taken. Buy 5 wings from the Chicken Cottage and walk to the taxi rank at Waterloo station. There are like 40 people waiting for cab, of which there are exactly 0.
Decided to walk to Shaftbury Ave to get a bus....omg....its too long to walk in the cold.
3 or 4AM: At home, unboxed my Wii...smells good....sleep.
The rest of Saturday: Everyone in my room playing Wii all day.

Sunday 10th December:
Sore from the excess Wii playing....So went skating to make it all better.

Check later for pictures.

Monday 11th December:
Day off work to heal my wounds and play Zelda, YAY!!!

How To Do The Asian Squat

Here's an instructional video on how to do the "Asian Squat". Learn it now, before you are ridiculed by hundreds upon hundreds of people:

Wii Spoofs PS3 - Kicks Sony's Ass

So some dude has made a advert for the Wii. Actually he created it for a contest to win an Wii. It basically spoofs those PS3 adverts, with the PS3 in a white room like this one:

This Wii advert takes a black Wii and sticks it in a white room (just like the above advert). Needless to say, I think this spoof rocks. The only problem.....no voice-over by James Remar (its not Michael Ironside, as many people believe). Check it out:

Motion Blur and its Effect on Gaming

Wow, those boys over at Crysis-Online (an unofficial Crysis fansite), have some interesting reads.

Here's an article about Motion Blur and its Effect on Gaming. Its a pretty good read, with a demonstation video at the end.

Its kinda relevant nowadays as more and more game and animation studios are using motion blurring. Although the last game I played with motion blur (Need for Speed Carbon), was appalling. I couldn't drive the car properly as almost all the screen was blurred.
Hopefully, Crysis will get this right (I've heard Gears Of War does pretty good motion blur).

Anyways, enjoy the read be-hatches.

Cool Song Covers

Here's a cool list of song covers, listing the good, bad, and outright weird. Although they miss out the Hey Ya!" cover by Mat Weddle of Obadiah Parker.

Here's my personal fave: an acoustic version of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up".

Also check out the original Digg post. The comments hold more morsels of cover song goodness.

NexGen Wars

So there's this site that apparently is tracking the market share of next-generation consoles.
The (se)XBox 360 is top of market share but the Wii has a higher percentage?? Whatever the fuck that means.

Check out the stats here

They also have some cool little sigs to keep track of things.

Worldwide Ages of Consent Card

Well, some of us may know the feeling of having a girl (or a guy) tell us that they are under the age of consent....after the deed. And you know what? That makes you a raper!!! Even if love was involved and there was consent from both parties.

So, to help you never experience the threat of cops chasing you and the fear of having you name on the sexual offenders list as a paedophile, heres the handy:

"Worldwide Ages of Consent Card"

...and by "card" I mean, you'd have to print it out and fold it into a million pieces until it fits into your wallet.

Enjoy

Personality Test

Well, time for another test!!! Yay, this time its a personality test.

Thanks to Yee for the link-a-lot.

P.S. Can you guess which one I picked. Here's a clue: (I picked number 1.)

How NOT To Play My Wii

Well, there have been reports that the Wiimote Controller is kinda weak. Actually, to be more precise, the wrist strap is weak.
People have been reporting that their wrist staps have snapped and the Wiimote then proceeds to fly out of their hands. In some cases, the Wiimote flies staight towards the player's precious flat screen TV, and in due process cracks the glass. See here for the first report of this.

I, being a natural cynic, believed this to be a hoax to scare people during the Thanksgiving holidays. But this video seems to prove otherwise:

So for anyone hoping to play with my Wii (*snigger*) this christmas, best follow these simple rules:
1. No sweaty palms - shirts, jeans & towels are the only drying aids allowed (no freakin' talcum powder unless its your own controller).
2. No swinging like the guy in the video. You don't need to be doing it that hard.
3. You must let me win (with a minimum win/loss ratio of 0.600)

Thanks to engadget for the linkerage.
Only 2 weeks left!!! w007!!!

Sooper Quick Random Access Memory

Its supposedly speedily like the Flash (I'm gonna go with the golden age, Jay Garrick version). It apparently runs at 1,150MHz!!!

By looking at the picture, can you guess how they managed this? Also note that its made by OCZ (for those of you in the know).

Here's a hint: What the hell is wrong with regular airflow cooling? Plus you can get cool fans with LEDs and stuff. Plus ***** cooling uses fans and radiators/fins anyway, so why add something else to the mix?

Thanks to engadget

Wiimote Accessories

So you've bought a Wii, and you've got your copy of "The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess". So all you need now is your costume....

Now what would be the hardest part of dressing up like this guy? Could it be the stick on ears, the boots, tunic, hat, the stockings? Well many of you may say the sword and shield, because who's going to have the time to make those!?!? Just look at the guy on the right, you can tell he hasn't got a life!! Unless you or your friends dabble in cosplay, I doubt you'll have a set like that gathering dust in the house. Also your going to be playing a game, so you don't want to have your masterfully created accessories to be strapped on your back!! Luckily there could be an answer...

Be on the lookout for me in my best Link getup in the coming Wii-ks (hahahaha....*sigh* that was so Wii-k...hahaha). Maybe if your lucky, I'll post some awesome pics (December 8th - keep it in your diaries)....Wii'll see.

Monday 20 November 2006

So that's what Wii're doing wrong....

Haha, get it? Oh my, that Wii thing is going to get Wii-lly old soon.

So here's what men are doing wrong in general - in regards to sexual relations.

Fifty Mistakes Men Make When Having Sex
NOTE: the site may be down as I dugg this pretty early on, so it may have suffered the Digg effect. If so, check out the Duggmirror

I know its not really in keeping with the blog, but the media and blogosphere has been saturated with the US Wii launch coverage....so kinda boring.

On a related Wii note, my Wii hardware (console) has been confirmed by Game. Yipee!!!! Although my confirmation email said that they might not be able to guarantee the delivery of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess :'(
Hopefully it comes, otherwise I'm stuck with Wii Sports or I'll have to purchase Madden 07 to tide me over.

How To Build Your Own Wacom Cintiq Tablet

I've always wanted one of these coz they look so cool. Shame that I don't actually do any Photoshoppy workm and the fact that they cost bucks (roughly £2,000).

But some adventurous young man decided to make his own 21" tablet. This thing cost him roughly £100, so a 95% discount!!!!

Lucky for me, he has put up an 18 step how-to on his website.

Thanks to Engadget for the link.

Asian Guys With White Girls?

So here's a common occurrence: whay are there so many White Guys with Asian Girls, but hardly any White Girls with Asian Guys?
Well someone has dared to answer this age ol' question. Check out his short film, "Yellow Fever":

Battlefield 2142 Stats + Others

So, finally the Battlefield 2142 stats are appearing.

There were two sites before (2142-stats.com and bf2142tracker.com). But then EA ordered these stats sites to stop using the tracker. All this was setup so that EA could finally release the Official Battlefield 2142 Stats page, under the "Player Profile" menu.
But now EA have released their official stat page, it seems the 2142-stats.com have got their stats back up (shame the site is still in development - I want my sig!!).

Check my stats out at:
www.2142-stats.com
Official EA Stats

For anyone who cares to look me up here's my PID (Player ID): 81883612

Also of note, check out www.bfsigs.com to create a signature for the popular FPS games. Check out mine above. Currently they only offer BF2142 Server sigs and BF2142 Status sigs (showing if your online or not).

Optical Illusion Time

OK kids, its late in the afternoon, you don't want to do any more work, why not try this.

Optical Illusion

I can guarntee you there are no computer trickery trick being employed. Just a javascript mouseover to change the picture to a greyscale.

There are more examples linked on the page. But don't do it for too long or you may hurt your eyes.

A Reason Not To Buy A Lappy-Top

Yeah, so Apple have now released their lappy collection under the Intel Core 2 Duo processor range. Sony also make some nice Vaio's. Asus make some OK notebooks too (I was even thinkin' of gettin the W5F).

But there has been recent news and a recall of laptop batteries due to them 'exploding'. Well some guys setup an experiment to see if they could set their laptop to blow up. Check out the vid ahead....

Of note:
I like how the guy says it gets to over 1000 degrees, without even giving the scale he using. I'm sure its fahrenheit as those crazy Americans love their over inflated numbers.

But seriously, please be careful all you lappy users out there.

P.S. I know its the big PS3/Wii lauches, but I'll cover these in my own good time. GOT IT!!!

Do you have a video game problem? Apparently, I may have one.

I am 66% Video Game Addict.
I have a Video Game Problem
Video games are a big portion of my life, maybe too big of a portion. They are not a means of social interaction, despite what I might think. I should just go outside.

Also, there are more tests on OKCupid. Beware though, its a dating site, but it has some cool tests. I didn't post my results coz they're quite verbose, and their pre-formatted "Copy & Paste" section for Blogger is crap.

Jessica Chobot is waaay Hotter than Morgan Web

Well this is a preview of "Splinter Cell : SomethingOrOther". But she does get into bed.

Way Hotter.
Her MySpace (its all about Facebook now)
Unofficial Chobot fansite
Her IGN blog.

I know a lot of people don't really like her, and I don't know why? Maybe its that IGN thing.

Morgan Webb is (not) Hot??

Morgan Webb is now the game guru for FHMUS. Problem is... well... she's not really that hot, well IMO anyway.

Here's her Top 20 Games of all time, ordered chronologically. Plus you get to see her in a bikini (like that's any kind of plus point).

Jessica ChobotEveryone knows that Jessica Chobot is waaaaaaayy hotter (even if she does work for IGN - zing).

Dragon's Quest on the Wii

OMG!!! This looks amazing!!! I want!!!

COD3 on the Wii is supposed to be fun

Well at least that's what this review says.

Call of Duty 2 was cool on the PC, especially graphically. But the Wii is really just a souped up Gamecube, so I guess the fun is going to be in the "interactivity" of the controller.

We'll just have to wait and see until December 8th.

I want a Firefox Extension to ...

Here's a simple site that lists 200+ extensions for Firefox.

I wouldn't suggest installing them all, coz your machine might die.

OMG Its Freakin' Holograms!!!!

In Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. That is if you don't like the (incredible?) Hulk, coz his character has been licensed by Vivendi.

No likes Hulk anyway right. Also, by favourite, I mean the popular ones (that means no Shang-Chi, or 3-D Man). But you can play as (Felix's favourite: Silver Surfer). Anyway it seems cool.

Plus there's online play!!!! w00t!!!

KotOR II v2.0

Well, apparently Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was kind of hurried out into gold status. So some wonderful modders have taken it upon themselves to try to resore the lost content back into the game.

Personally I found KotOR II not as fun as the original KotOR.

So good on you boys.

Hack the Planet (or your PSP)

So you've got a PSP, and you've knackered the analogue stick (again).

Well, then here are two sweet mods for you via joystiq

EA are Sneaky Whores

Well, apparently EA are now using "LIVE" in-game advertising.

I've started playing "Need For Speed : Most Wanted" again, and can't help but notice the huge Burger King ads in the game (especially the billboard by on the 180 degree corner by the golf course). But it's all good coz it doesn't distract from my evading the 5-0.

But here's the thing. EA will now be using a different type of in game advertising in their two new titles: Battlefield 2142, and Need For Speed : Carbon. This advertising involves "spyware" that will place the ads into the game. So I'm guessing the ads will change from time to time.

According to the adware company, "70% of gamers [are] saying that advertisements inside computer and video games help improve the realism of the gaming experience".
So what could they possibly advertise in Battlefield 2142 (apart from McDonalds) that will add realism??

Here's joystiq's coverage:

I Want A 22-inch Monitor

Well the new widescreen monitor thing is getting kind of ridiculous (ie. the Apple Cinema Screens). I mean, who would pay those prices for a frickin' monitor? Probably only the Apple fanboys, i guess, they wouldn't want a monitor that didn't match their computer.

Anyways, aside for my hate of Apple and Steve Jobs (apart from my 3G iPod and the new 2G iPod Shuffle - out 28th October), there is a new fad of making 22-inch monitors. The only problem is that they won't support a 1080p HD signal coz the vertical resolution is 1050 pixels.

Endgadget has been keeping abreast of this current fashion trend, and today they have brought to my attention a new 22-inch widescreen Iiyama which is selling for £270!!! No HDMI jack or any news of it supporting HDCP via the DVI, but you can't argue with the price!!!

But check out BenQ FP241W (also here's the gay microsite). It supports full 1080p "True HD", plus it supports PiP!!! That's right, freakin' Picture in Picture!!! USB 2.0 Hub, multiple video inputs. What else could you want?
How about the BenQ FP241W Z, which is basically the same, but with some new "AMA Z" technology, that reduces ghosting and increases the clarity of moving images.

I bet they cost bucks tho :(
Oh well, its almost Christmas :D

[Update 1]

Apparently, according to Trusted Reviews it costs £646.24 inc VAT. So not freakin' bad!!!!

Its upgrade season!!! - [Updated]

Woohoo!!!!

Well, seeing as its my birthday on Sunday, I thought I'd upgrade my PC.

So I bought a new processor (on my credit card - hahahaha).
Its an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Socket 939, ToledoCore, 2x 2.4GHz, 2MB L2 Cache (2 x 1MB). Bought from www.scan.co.uk. Not too bad service, if I do say so myself.

HAHAHAHAHAH, DUAL CORE, GET SOME!!!!

I also got a Scythe Ninja passive CPU cooler. It's freakin' sweet, it looks like a shuriken!!! Although I'm kinda afraid that it'll be too close to my RAM. We'll just have to wait and see.

So here's the update

Heres'a close up of my new CPU

And here's a pic of my newly installed CPU cooler, its freakin' massive!!!

And here's one of it all put together, note how the cooling fan is situated above my memory!!!

It's Been A Slow Week - Part 1 - Music

Well, as the title says: "Its been a slow week".

I've found absolutely nothing interesting to blog about since my last post (its been so long that I almost forgot my blogger.com username and password!!). So I'll just throw some stuff here that really isn't news or stuff.

OK, so first lets talk music:
1. I'm getting more into +44. Probably coz I hate Tom Delonge and his Angels and Airwaves, and also coz I think Travis Barker is an awesome drummer.

Travis FTW!!!

2. I've recently rediscovered Finch. By rediscovered, I mean listening to all those mp3's that I "aquired" (I didn't say downloaded so the MPAA can suck my P2P software), but haven't yet listened to. All I can say is that they are awesome. Like they're kinda emo-core (I think), wikipedia says their a "rock" band but I could log on and change that to "american commercial jingle composers". Anyway check 'em out, my current favorite track is "What it is to burn":

well that's it for now. Look out for more non-news goodies later.
Peace out
J.

NVIDIA or ATI?

I fucking hate it when big companies buy out little companies. It seriously fucks everything up. I mean, there are hardly any specialist shops these days, they've all been replaced by huge conglomerate supermarkets and shit. Long gone are the times of the local butcher, green grocer, and bakery. All we're left with are the Tesco's, Sainsbury's, and Morrissons, who would want you believe that they get quality produce and have fully qualified specialist staff. Bullshit.

Anyway, back to the real issue....

We all know Dell bought Alienware, and HP bought Voodoo PC.
We also know that AMD bought ATi.

So what could the next logical step be in the whole hyper-global-mega-net business acquisition process?
Think about it....

Could it be Intel buying NVIDIA?

Looks like my next rig upgrade may have to be an AMD and ATi setup :(

+44 FTW!!!

Angels and Airwaves suck ass. Everyone knows it. Don't deny your true feelings.
Tom Delounge is gay, and so is his new music. According to Seb, his wife's a real Yoko Oh-No.

So here's some +44 (Mark and Travis from Blink 182). Think of them as the better half of the Blink 182 split.

I like.
But..
The only thing I don't like is the name, coz its freakin' hard to search for on the interweb. Is it +44, Plus 44, Plus44, Plus Forty-Four, Plus Four Four, etc....?????

Wii!!!!

Now that I've pre-ordered my Wii, all that's left is the waiting......

But to keep me and you entertained, here's a cool little newsy story thingy about how freakin' sweet the Wii is (with videos).

You know what, I couldn't resist it. Here's one of the coolest videos from that article. I can imagine playing this game for ages, seeing as I don't play Seb's drums no more :(

Yeah, I don't watch Lost (apart from the first episode) but I'll probably start once it gets good. I'm pretty sure its gonna start sucking soon, especially because J.J. Abrams and his goons still don't know what's going on in their own freakin' show.

Now THIS is an MP3 player.

The all new iPod Shuffle.

I'll say this, its fucking small!! If you've seen the iPod FM Remote Control, its the same size, except there's no radio. Instead there's 1GB of storage inside. I've always wondered why manufacturers don't use gb instead.

I'm gonna order one soon, I just gotta think of a 1 line, 38 character, personalized engraving message. Leave recommendations in the comments.

EVE Online sounds awesome

Thankfully I'm still on the old skool RPGs and haven't taken to the new MMORPG fad. You know, open ended role-playing games that are played online in a constant universe.

Well, EVE Online is just one of those games. I think its based on the "Elite" mold of gaming, albeit in an online-multiplayer platform. So the regular MMORPG things occur (except with different names) like Corporations (see clan) etc.

One magazine decided to stage an elaborate plan/scam in the game that involved a year long campaign to infiltrate a corporation and basically steal everything they had. The best thing......it was totally legal within the game's rules.
Then another guy decided to pose as a 'bank', gather people's money, then scarper after a bit. He made off with the equivalent of $170,000 in in-game money!!!!

One Winged F-15

Yeah I was going for a Final Fantasy VII reference, but couldn't really be bothered. I mean c'mon "One Winged Angel"!!! That sounds gay, fitting, but gay.

Anyway, here's a youtube of how a pilot was able to land an F15 Eagle with only one wing.

Inspirational or Motivational?

You know those crappy inspirational posters that most offices have hung around (some people even have them in their houses - losers).
You know, like:
"TEAMWORK : Together we achieve that which no one can achieve alone."
I shit you not, that's a real one. And yes, that is a picture of men in a scrum, all sweaty and muddy with short shorts on. Not gay at all.

So here are some alternatives:
Despair Inc. These guys specialize in DE-motivational posters. Thery're quite funny. Check out their swanky lithographs.

Role Playing Inspirational Posters. These are all homemade and were submitted into a forum at the RPG.net forums. Most are pretty poor (the image quality is bad and small size). But there are some gems in there. Of course most are RPG based, but there are some others in there. Quite good.
Check out the mirror as the site may be down.

Guitar Amp Modelling

Well, this is something I'm interested in.

As we all know most people can't afford the couple o' grand that a Mesa Boogie dual/triple recifier head and a Mesa Boogie 4x12 cab costs. I sure as hell know that I can't afford that shit.
Hell, I can't even afford the £300 Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 software that is currently sitting on my hard drive.

Here's a nice little article that details guitar amp plugins.

I might have to try a couple of these.

Opera vs. Firefox

To be honest, anyone who like Internet Explorer should be shot. It's like advocating having George W. Bush run your country for another 4 years. Well, at least he's a good puppet for the powers that actually rule the world.

Anyway, in the ever expanding market of internet browsers comes the new release of Opera (version 9 to be exact). It supports RSS, IRC, BitTorrent, and Widgets. So seems kinda cool, and may even be a FireFox beta (get it? beater/beta - hahahaha.....*sigh*). Also Nintendo are using Opera in the Wii and DS. Anyway some dood has written a review of Opera 9.
